Telecom Cogeco Cable Acquires Data Center Firm Quiettouch

Canadian telecommunications provider Cogeco Cable announced on Monday it will acquire Canadian data center and hosting provider Quiettouch. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quiettouch operates three data centers in Toronto and Vancouver, as well as a fiber network within key business areas of downtown Toronto.

The company provides managed infrastructure and hosting, virtualization, firewall services, data backup with end-to-end monitoring and reporting, and enhanced and traditional colocation services.

"It also demonstrates our willingness to seize upon external growth opportunities in our Canadian footprint when they arise. This acquisition will enable us to widen our market focus and better serve the medium and large business market. Quiettouch is very well positioned in the managed IT and infrastructure services market and provides tremendous growth potential in the foreseeable future."

According to the press release, the transaction will close "once certain arrangements and commercial approvals are obtained."

Cheverny Capital served as Cogeco Cable’s advisor for the transaction.

Operating in Ontario, Quebec and Portugal, Cogeco Cable provides data networking, e-business applications, video conferencing, web hosting, Ethernet, private line, VoIP, HSI, data storage and security, and colocation services, audio, analog and digital TV services, high speed Internet and telephony services.
